God's cake!

I received this in an email and wanted to share with you!
Sometimes  we wonder,
'What  did I do to deserve this?' or
'Why did God  have to do this to me
?'
Here  is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is  telling her Mother how everything
Is  going wrong
,  she's failing algebra, her boyfriend
Broke  up with her and her best friend is moving  away.
Meanwhile,  her Mother is baking a cake and
Asks  her daughter if she would like a snack, and  the
Daughter  says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'
'Here,  have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers.
'Yuck'  says her daughter..
'How  about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'
'Would  you like some flour then?
Or maybe baking  soda?'
'Mom,  those are all yucky!'
To  which the mother replies:
'Yes, all those  things seem bad all by themselves.
But when  they are put together in the
Right  way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!  '
God  works the same way. Many times we wonder  why
He  would let us go through such bad and difficult
Times.  But God knows that when He puts these  things
All  in His order, they always work for good! We  just
Have  to trust Him  and, eventually, they will all
Make something  wonderful!
God  is crazy about you.

He sends you flowers  every spring and
A sunrise every  morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll  listen.
He can live anywhere in the  universe,
And He chose your heart.

New Wall Decor!

I was so excited to finish finish this project! Although, I am completley aware that I am no Michaelangelo the fact that I can contribute my talents to decorating my home is so thrilling for me! I honestly don't know when or how that creative gene in me began to manifest...haha....but it does run in my family. My mom has always had a creative eye so I am just so proud to say that I inherited it as well! Ok, so enough about that! If you read my post a while back called [Boys can be creative too] my hubs started the project so I just jazzed it up and finished it.

For starters all you need is canvas, mod podge, newspaper and a paint brush....the paint is for later!
1) Cut the newspaper into small sections to create your art on canvas.
2) Then you will spread the mod podge in sections and place the newspaper pieces on it then paint the mod podge over the paper. Do this until the canvas is covered in newspaper [or to your liking].
3) Let the canvas dry....it should have a nice gloss to it when its ready.
4) Paint your artwork as you like!

So basically my husband started this project by painting that bridge in the top corner.
I just chose to leave that part exposed and
cut the newspaper to fit around it just because I loved what he started.
The best thing about the newspaper is, if you mess up on the painting then you can just cover that section with newspaper and it erases your mistakes! [Love that part]
I definitely had a few drafts before I was satisfied!

1st draft

2nd draft

3rd draft & finally happy!
Try it and let me know how it turns out!
Contact me if you have any questions!
Happy Painting!

Lovely Travels {Jamaica}

Today I'm just reminiscing about our Honeymoon vacay back in 2008...wishing I was there now.
For our honeymoon my sweetheart and I decided to stay at an all inclusive resort!
We looked at so many but fell in love with Sandals in Ocho Rios, Jamaica
We had the vacation of a lifetime...great service, food and entertainment all for one price!
We would do it all over again if given the chance.
Our Romeo & Juliet suite
View from one of the restaurants
Roadside beauty....view while going to an excursion
Rock climbing!
View of one of the pools!

Our view while having a candlelight dinner by the ocean!
The beauty outside our room!
Our butler's gave us a cell phone & he loved that!
Enjoying dinner at an Asian restaurant in the resort

This was back in 2008.....ahhh it was a well spent vacation!
I highly recommend Sandals Resorts!

Here's to good memories & great vacations!

San Antonio ZOO!

I have a pretty interesting job to say the least! I work at an International Emergency Shelter for teenage boys who are here in the States illegally. The job can be rewarding but it definitely has its difficult days [more often than not.] The boys come to our shelter are blessed because instead of being put in jail, since they are minors they get an opportunity to be educated, they are given medical attention, provided a lawyer and case manager and thus begins their journey as an American citizen unless the court sees fit to send them back to their home country. Many of them come with hopes to work and send money back to their families in their home countries or reunite with a family member here in the states. Whatever the journey, each boy has an interesting story! They do not have easy lives by any means, they have been taught to struggle, get by and just survive! One of my responsibilities is to help teach the boys manners.....boy is that hard, especially since some of our boys were never taught to respect women.
Just for fun I teach some of the boys English and its great to see them excited to learn. Sometimes I get the opportunity to play games with them too! They always get mad that they can't beat me at tic tac toe or connect 4...haha! It's fun to see them try!
Another perk of being in our center is that with good behavior they get to go on outings on Saturdays.
I enjoy seeing them have a blast outside the vicinity of our shelter. Just last week we went to the San Antonio Zoo and I was able to catch a few pictures of our day.

Girl's night!

Laughter is an instant vacation.  ~Milton Berle
A couple weekends back I spent some time with my lovely girlfriends!
We went shopping, eating, then ended the night bowling!
It was so much fun....we truly enjoyed ourselves. Although, I can't disclose all the details of our evening adventures it was more fun than we should have had [I spent way too much money but OH WELL!]
I really think its important to squeeze in girl time whenever possible especially for the purposes of....laughter!
There is just an element of healing in laughter.
Have you ever noticed that at the end of a really hard day, if you have a really good laugh then all is made better even more quickly than if you had intended it?
Have you ever noticed that even when you get some bad news or have an unexpected quarrel, when you enjoy a good chuckle....no longer does the weight of sadness feel so heavy on your shoulders?
Found this quote to be so fitting: Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side effects.  ~Arnold Glasow
Laughter is so good for the soul...the Bible even says so!
Proverbs 17:22 "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

Some pics of our girls night!
Interesting decor at the Steve Madden store!
Shoes make even the worst week BETTER!
Girl talk & good food!

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.  ~e.e. cummings

What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul.  ~Yiddish Proverb

Hope you have some ladies or gents to chuckle with!

Michael Franti & Spearhead [pre-Santana entertainment]

A couple of weeks ago we were so excited to be given tickets
[..great tickets, might I add..] to see Carlos Santana in concert!
What a phenomenal musician he is!
He was in SATX and he rocked the AT&T center it was a great show and he's not cheap at all it was a full 2 & a half hours of Santana enjoyment!

But first, before he took the stage there was a great musician by the name of Michael Franti with Spearhead. Oh boy was he fun!
He was all over the place, in the crowd then on the stage, we didn't know where to find him next.
He even came our way and I snuck in a photo with him....hehehe! Loved every moment of the concert!!! Most fun I have had with my hubs in a while!

here are some pics of the pre-Santana fun:

Having fun with the crowd

Everyone was lovin' him!
